Fleetwood Beach

Fleetwood Beach runs along the northern edge of the Fylde Coast where the Wyre Estuary meets Morecambe Bay, offering wide flat sands at low tide with an exposed, open character and views across the bay to the Lake District fells. The beach opens up significantly away from the central promenade, and the combination of estuary influence and open coast creates a landscape that feels wilder than the resort beaches further south. The Victorian seafront architecture and the Fleetwood Market add character to the town end, while the beach itself stretches away into quieter territory.

Dogs are welcome year-round on large sections of this dog friendly beach, with some seasonal restrictions closer to the town centre. The wide, flat sand at low tide provides excellent running space, and the estuary influence creates tidal channels and pools that dogs enjoy investigating. The Wyre Estuary at the north end has strong currents, so keeping dogs away from the river mouth is important. The exposed position means wind is a constant feature, keeping the air fresh and carrying salt scent strongly. The views across Morecambe Bay — particularly at sunset — add genuine beauty to what is already a spacious and reliable coastal walk. Parking is available along the seafront.
