Privacy Policy
Last updated: 22nd April ’26
This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use Wildpack Collective (wildpackcollective.com), why we collect it, and what we do with it. We’ve tried to write it plainly. If anything’s unclear, get in touch and we’ll explain.
Who we are
Wildpack Collective is a UK-based directory of dog friendly walks, beaches and wild places. The website is operated by Wildpack.
For any questions about this policy or requests about your data, email us at sam@wildpackcollective.com.
Under UK GDPR, we’re the “data controller” for information you give us via this website.
What we collect and why
When you use the contact form
When you submit the contact form, we collect:
- Your first name (required)
- Your last name (optional)
- Your email address (required)
- The reason for your message (required)
- The content of your message (required)
- Whether you opted in to the newsletter (optional)
We use this information to read and reply to your message, and nothing else. We don’t sell, share, or pass it to any third party beyond the tools listed below.
Who processes this data:
- Web3Forms handles the form submission and forwards it to our email inbox. Their privacy policy: https://web3forms.com/privacy
- Google Workspace hosts our email. Submissions land in our inbox here.
- Google Sheets stores a copy of each submission so we can keep track of messages over time.
How long we keep it: We keep contact form submissions for as long as we need them to respond to your enquiry and maintain a record of our conversation. You can ask us to delete your message at any time (see “Your rights” below).
When you sign up for the newsletter
If you tick the newsletter opt-in on the contact form, or sign up via any other newsletter form on the site, we’ll add your email address and name to our newsletter list.
What we send: Occasional emails with new walks, seasonal guides, and travel stories related to dog friendly adventures. We don’t send more than a few emails a month.
How long we keep it: Until you unsubscribe. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Once you unsubscribe, your email is removed from the active list.
When you leave a comment on a blog post
If blog comments are enabled and you leave one, we collect the information you provide in the comment form (name, email, comment), your IP address, and your browser user agent. This helps us detect spam.
An anonymised string created from your email (a hash) may be sent to Gravatar to check whether you have a profile picture. Gravatar’s privacy policy: https://automattic.com/privacy/.
If you opt in via the cookie when commenting, we save your name, email and website in your browser so you don’t have to fill them in again next time. This cookie lasts one year.
Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely so we can recognise and approve follow-up comments automatically.
Cookies and site tracking
We use a small number of cookies to make the site work:
- Session cookies set by WordPress when you log in (only relevant if you have an admin account). These expire when you close your browser or log out.
- Comment cookies (see above) if you choose to save your details when commenting.
- Map tiles are loaded from Mapbox when you use The Wildpack Map. Mapbox may set cookies to deliver the map service. Their privacy policy: https://www.mapbox.com/legal/privacy
We do not currently use analytics cookies, advertising cookies, or tracking pixels. If that changes, we’ll update this policy and ask for your consent where required.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content like videos, images, or social posts. Embedded content from other websites behaves as if you’d visited that website directly. Those sites may collect data about you, use cookies, and monitor your interaction with their content.
Affiliate links
Some of our pages contain affiliate links, including links to products on Amazon through the Amazon Associates programme. If you click one of these links and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Amazon (or the relevant retailer) sets its own cookies when you click the link. We don’t receive any personal information about you from these transactions — only aggregated reporting on clicks and commissions.
Who we share your data with
We don’t sell or trade your personal data to anyone.
We use the following third-party services as data processors (they handle data on our behalf, under our instructions):
- Web3Forms — contact form processing
- Google Workspace / Gmail — email hosting
- Google Analytics – Tracking
- Google Sheets — contact submission records
- Mapbox — map tiles for The Wildpack Map
- Our website host — Hostinger, who hosts wildpackcollective.com
Some of these services are based outside the UK and EU (for example, in the United States). Where that’s the case, we rely on the provider’s own safeguards for international data transfers, such as Standard Contractual Clauses or their equivalent.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Know what we hold about you. Ask us and we’ll tell you.
- Correct anything that’s wrong. Let us know and we’ll fix it.
- Request deletion. Ask us to delete your personal data and we’ll do so, unless we’re required to keep it for legal reasons.
- Restrict or object to processing. You can ask us to stop processing your data in certain ways.
- Data portability. You can ask for a copy of your data in a machine-readable format.
- Withdraw consent. If we’re processing your data based on your consent (like the newsletter), you can withdraw it at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, email sam@wildpackcollective.com. We’ll respond within 30 days.
If you’re not happy with how we’ve handled your data, you have the right to complain to the UK’s data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). Their website: https://ico.org.uk
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the personal data you share with us. Form submissions are sent over HTTPS. Access to our email and Google Sheets is protected by strong passwords and two-factor authentication. That said, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we can’t guarantee absolute security.
Children
Wildpack Collective is not intended for children under 16. We don’t knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, please contact us and we’ll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make significant changes to this policy we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top and, where appropriate, notify newsletter subscribers by email. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
