Roseisle Beach

Roseisle Beach stretches along the Moray coast east of Burghead, a long, flat ribbon of golden sand backed by one of Scotland's finest coastal forests — a plantation of Scots pine and broadleaf trees that gives the landscape a layered, almost Scandinavian quality. The beach is lightly developed and rarely crowded, with the forest providing sheltered walking when conditions on the open shore are too blustery. The combination of beach and woodland in immediate proximity creates an unusually varied coastal environment.

Dogs are welcome off-lead year-round on this excellent dog friendly beach, and the ability to switch between open sand and shaded forest paths makes it particularly versatile. The firm sand suits long walks in either direction, while the forest trails offer rich scenting ground full of pine resin and woodland wildlife smells. Sheltered by Burghead headland from north-westerly winds, the beach often enjoys calmer conditions than more exposed Moray stretches. A forestry car park provides easy access to both beach and woodland.
