Arrow Valley Country Park

Arrow Valley Country Park spreads across 900 acres on the southern edge of Redditch, built around a central reservoir and lake where the River Arrow flows through woodland, wetland and open meadow. The main lakeside circuit covers 4.8 km on surfaced paths with water in view throughout, while extensions into the surrounding woodland and meadows can stretch the walk to 11 km. The park has matured well since its creation, with planted woodland now dense enough to feel established and meadow areas managed for wildflowers in summer. It balances formal parkland amenities with wilder corners where the planting has been left to develop naturally.

This is a dog friendly walk that works for daily use without becoming repetitive. The lake holds swans, geese and other wildfowl year-round, providing the kind of movement and scent interest that keeps dogs alert along the waterside paths. The shoreline is accessible in several places for dogs that want to wade or cool off. Woodland sections offer enclosed, shady stretches rich with undergrowth scent, while the open meadows give running space when livestock are not present. Some meadow areas are grazed periodically, so lead awareness is needed. The surfaced paths suit older dogs or pushchairs, and the overall flatness of the route, with just 40 m of climbing, makes this accessible to dogs and owners at any fitness level. Toilets and a cafe are available near the main car park.
