Mullion Cove Beach
Cornwall
Mullion Cove Beach is a small, sheltered sandy cove inside the historic harbour at Mullion Cove on the western Lizard Peninsula. The harbour itself is a remarkable Victorian structure, maintained by the National Trust, with granite piers protecting the small fishing fleet from Atlantic swell. The beach sits within the harbour walls and is compact, sandy and extremely sheltered. The surrounding cliffs of serpentine rock rise steeply on both sides, and the whole cove has a dramatic, contained beauty.
Dogs are welcome at Mullion Cove year-round and the harbour and beach are both open to well-behaved dogs. The extreme shelter of the harbour makes the water here exceptionally calm, ideal for dogs who want to paddle without waves. The compact beach within the harbour walls is easy to manage with a dog. The National Trust cafe at the harbour is dog-friendly in its outdoor seating area, which combines well with the beach. The South West Coast Path runs above the cove on both sides, with the clifftop walk to Predannack and Kynance being particularly dramatic. The cove is genuinely stunning in evening light.
