Porthcurnick Beach

Porthcurnick Beach is a small, sandy cove on the Roseland Peninsula, tucked between Portscatho and St Mawes and accessible via a short footpath from the National Trust car park above. The beach faces south-east into the sheltered waters of Falmouth Bay, giving it an unusually calm and warm character for a Cornish beach. Fine sand, clear water and gentle conditions make it a thoroughly pleasant spot, and the Hidden Hut beach cafe above the beach has become one of the most talked-about food destinations on the Cornish coast.

Dogs are welcome year-round with no PSPO restrictions in place, making this a reliably dog friendly beach throughout the seasons. The calm, sheltered water is ideal for dogs who enjoy paddling or swimming, and the compact sandy area suits owners who like to keep their dog within easy reach. The Hidden Hut welcomes dogs at its outdoor tables and fire pit feasts, making this a rare beach where genuinely good food and year-round dog access go hand in hand. The footpath approach keeps the beach accessible but not overwhelmed, and the Roseland Heritage Coast scenery on the walk down and up is excellent.
