Sandy Mouth Beach
Cornwall
Sandy Mouth Beach is a broad, wild Atlantic beach managed by the National Trust, situated on the north Cornish coast north of Widemouth Bay and south of Morwenstow. The beach is reached via a valley path from the National Trust car park and has a wonderfully unspoilt character, with the surrounding farmland and clifftops managed sensitively by the Trust. The sand is firm and extensive at low tide, the surf Atlantic-consistent, and the cliffs on either side offer dramatic coastal walking. The beach cafe at the car park is a well-known stop on the coast path.
Dogs are welcome at Sandy Mouth year-round with no PSPO restrictions, and the National Trust management here is notably dog-welcoming. The wide, open beach gives dogs serious room at low tide, and the surf provides energetic swimming for confident sea dogs. The grassland and clifftop above the beach are excellent walking country for extending the visit beyond the beach itself. The cafe at the car park welcomes dogs in its outdoor areas. The South West Coast Path runs immediately above and connects to the dramatic cliffs of Morwenstow to the north and Widemouth to the south. One of the best all-round dog beach experiences on the north Cornish coast.
