Blyth South Beach is a wide, sandy beach on the Northumberland coast south of Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, backed by dunes and the Links Road. Blyth is an industrial port town with a long maritime heritage, and the beach sits to the south of the port entrance, offering an open stretch of sand facing east across the North Sea. The beach is popular with local dog walkers and has a windswept, open character typical of this stretch of Northumberland coast. Offshore wind turbines are visible on the horizon.
A partial seasonal dog ban applies to the central section of Blyth beach from 1 May to 30 September, covering the stretch from the beach access at Beachway to the access at the southern end of the Links Road car park. Outside this zone, the beach north and south of the restrictions remains accessible to dogs year-round. The wider Blyth beach area includes significant stretches that are unrestricted throughout the year.
