Aberdyfi Beach
Gwynedd
Aberdyfi (Aberdovey) Beach is a beautiful sandy beach at the mouth of the Dyfi Estuary in southern Snowdonia National Park. The village is one of the most attractive small seaside towns in Wales, with brightly painted houses, excellent cafes and the song 'The Bells of Aberdovey' as its anthem. The beach faces west across Cardigan Bay and has a gentle, sheltered character at the estuary mouth. The Dyfi Biosphere Reserve surrounds the area.
A seasonal restriction applies from 1 April to 30 September at Aberdyfi Beach under Gwynedd Council PSPO, from the slipway to the end of the car park. Dog-friendly sections remain. Outside the restriction season, the full beach is open.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, Aberdyfi Beach is dog friendly and earns a solid 7/10 on our dog-friendly rating. It's a beautiful sandy beach at the mouth of the Dyfi Estuary, and the village itself is well set up for visitors with dogs, including dog-friendly pubs, cafes, and the Wynnstay Hotel.
Dogs are welcome year round, but a seasonal restriction applies between 1 April and 30 September under a Gwynedd Council PSPO. During this period, dogs are not permitted in the section running from the slipway to the end of the car park, though dog-friendly sections of the beach remain accessible. Outside of those dates, the full beach is open to dogs.
It's worth arriving early in peak season, as the car park near the beach can get busy. If you're visiting between April and September, be aware of the restricted zone and stick to the dog-friendly sections of the beach. On the plus side, the village has excellent cafes, pubs, and shops, so there's plenty to enjoy before or after your walk.
