Harlech Beach is a long, wide sandy beach below the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Harlech Castle, one of the most impressive medieval fortresses in Europe. The castle sits on a spectacular rocky crag above the town, and from the beach the silhouette of the castle against the Snowdonia mountains is extraordinary. The beach extends south toward Barmouth in a long unbroken arc of sand backed by dunes and the Morfa Harlech National Nature Reserve.
A seasonal restriction applies from 1 April to 30 September under Gwynedd Council PSPO, covering designated zones on the main beach. Outside the restricted season, this is one of the finest dog walks in Wales: vast sands, castle views and mountain backdrops with almost no visitors.
