Mugdock Country Park Circular Walk

Mugdock Country Park welcomes dogs and offers a genuinely varied walk through woodland, past a lochan and around the ruins of Mugdock Castle. That said, it scores 5.5 out of 10 on our dog friendly rating, largely because leads are required through much of the park due to grazing Highland cattle along the route.

Dogs need to be kept on leads throughout much of the park, as Highland cattle graze in several of the fields the circular route passes through. The cattle are generally placid and accustomed to walkers, but keeping dogs on lead is essential for everyone's safety.

Come prepared for muddy paths, particularly through the woodland sections, so good boots and a towel for your dog are a sensible idea. The park has a visitor centre with a cafe and toilets at the main car park, which is well signed from Milngavie, making it a convenient base for your walk.
