Low Force is the quieter sibling of High Force, a string of foamy cascades tumbling over whinstone ledges on the River Tees, and this little loop from Bowlees is one of the prettiest short rambles in Teesdale. It is a dog friendly outing that works for all ages, taking in the stepping-stone ledges at Low Force, the narrow single-file Wynch Bridge slung on Victorian cables, and a gentle return along the opposite bank with wildflowers in the meadows and curlews overhead in spring.
