Boscombe Beach East

Boscombe Beach East sits on the Dorset coast just east of Boscombe Pier, part of the wider Bournemouth beach stretch but with a quieter, more walkable character once you move away from the pier area. The sand is wide and clean with a groyne system that keeps conditions manageable, and the eastern section opens into a less populated stretch where the walking becomes more relaxed. The beach faces south with views across Poole Bay to the Purbeck Hills, and the cliffs behind are softened by zig-zag paths and gardens.

Dogs are prohibited on the main beach areas from 1 May to 30 September between 8am and 6pm — check BCP Council PSPO signage for exact boundaries. Outside these restrictions, this is a reliable dog friendly beach with good sand for running and gentle water access for paddling. The groyne-divided sections create natural bays that give each stretch a slightly different character, and the tide line deposits varied material for investigation. The eastern end tends to be quieter and more suited to dog walking than the area immediately around the pier. Parking is available nearby, and the cafes and facilities along the promenade are within easy reach. A practical urban beach that works well outside the summer restriction window.
