Clacton-on-Sea Beach

Clacton-on-Sea Beach is a classic dog friendly British seaside destination on the Essex Sunshine Coast, centred around a fine Victorian pier and offering a generous sweep of clean golden sand. Often described as the jewel of the Essex coast, Clacton is a lively traditional resort with amusements, cafes, a seasonal lifeguard service, and all the entertainment that one would expect of an established seaside town. The beach itself is Sandy and more spacious than its busy reputation might suggest, with easy access from the seafront promenade and good facilities throughout the season.

Dogs are permitted at Clacton-on-Sea Beach outside of the summer season, but are excluded from most of the main beach from 1 May to 30 September inclusive. The restricted zone runs from the Pier to the West Road outfall pipe on Martello Bay. On the promenade, dogs must be kept on leads at all times. Outside of these dates the beach is a pleasant option for dog owners, and the broader seafront area remains accessible year round. Parking is available on Marine Parade with on-street spaces and two council car parks on Agate Road and Carnarvon Road, both with disabled parking and the latter with electric charging.
