Coverack Beach
Cornwall
Coverack Beach is the sheltered sandy and shingle beach of the fishing village of Coverack on the eastern Lizard Peninsula, facing east across the English Channel towards France. The village is one of the most attractive on the Lizard, with colour-washed cottages, a small harbour and the Paris Hotel giving the waterfront a distinctive character. The beach curves around the harbour in a gentle arc, offering calm, protected water even when conditions elsewhere on the coast are rough.
Dogs are welcome at Coverack Beach year-round with no PSPO restrictions, and the relaxed character of the village extends to a welcoming attitude towards dogs. The calm water in the sheltered bay is excellent for paddling and swimming, and the beach is compact enough to be manageable while still offering enough space for a good run at low tide. The Paris Hotel bar and terrace welcomes dogs, and the harbour wall provides pleasant walking at all tide states. The South West Coast Path connects Coverack to the wider Lizard Peninsula in both directions. A very satisfying combination of good beach, good village and dog-friendly facilities.
