Dymchurch Beach
Kent
Dymchurch Beach is a flat, expansive sandy beach stretching for approximately three miles along the Kent coast on Romney Marsh, backed by a concrete sea wall and promenade. At low tide the sand extends far out, creating wide, open flats ideal for walking, kite flying, and beach games. The village of Dymchurch has a traditional seaside resort character with amusement arcades, fish-and-chip shops, and the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway, a heritage narrow-gauge railway that adds to the area's nostalgic appeal. Martello towers from the Napoleonic era stand along the coast.
Dogs are not permitted on the beach between Sycamore Gardens and Martello Car Park from 1 May to 30 September. Outside the restricted zone and season, the vast, flat sands provide excellent off-lead walking space with virtually no obstacles. The open, exposed character means wind is a constant companion, and the flat terrain suits dogs of all ages and fitness levels. At high tide, the sea can reach the sea wall, leaving very little beach exposed, so checking tide times is important. Parking is available in several car parks along the seafront, and the village provides all necessary facilities.
