Lancing Beach

Lancing Beach is a quiet shingle beach running along the West Sussex coast between Shoreham-by-Sea and Worthing. The seafront here has a calm, unpretentious character: a low promenade, occasional beach huts, and a relatively modest level of visitor infrastructure compared to the larger resort beaches either side. The beach is predominantly shingle, flat and easy to walk, with the wide estuary landscape of the Adur to the east creating good open views. Lancing itself is a residential town rather than a resort, which keeps the beach population local and unhurried. The promenade connects east to Shoreham and west towards Worthing, making it a useful link in a longer coastal walk. A handful of cafes and local amenities are available close to the seafront.

Dogs are welcome at Lancing Beach year-round with no seasonal restrictions under the Adur District Council PSPO. Beaches in the Adur district carry no dog bans, making Lancing a reliably accessible option when nearby Worthing is subject to its summer restrictions. The beach is popular with local dog walkers and the flat, open shingle suits steady year-round walking. Leads are advisable on the promenade and in areas where pedestrian traffic is busier. Several seafront cafes and local pubs are within easy reach in Lancing and nearby Shoreham.
