Skegness Beach

Lincolnshire

Dog Friendly Rating: 5/10 Skegness's famous Blue Flag resort beach with a central seasonal ban from 1 May to 30 September; the South Bracing section is dog friendly year-round and the quieter stretches south toward Gibraltar Point are excellent.

Skegness Beach is the main resort beach of this famous Lincolnshire seaside town, one of the earliest traditional English seaside resorts and still one of the busiest on the East Coast. The beach is wide, sandy and Blue Flag-awarded, stretching for miles north and south of the town. The seafront is busy and well-equipped, with arcades, fairground rides, fish and chip shops, the famous Skegness Pier, donkey rides and a full range of traditional seaside entertainment. The Jolly Fisherman, the town's iconic mascot, originated here. The resort has a lively, unpretentious character that has delighted family visitors for over a century.

A seasonal dog ban applies to the central beach section from 1 May to 30 September under the East Lindsey PSPO, covering the stretch from the lifeboat house on Tower Esplanade north to the skate park at the end of North Parade. Dogs must also be kept on leads on the promenade during this period. The South Beach section, known as South Bracing, runs from South Parade southward and is dog friendly, as is the beach north of the restricted zone. Outside the restricted season the whole beach is accessible. For dog owners, the South Beach section and the quieter stretches to the south toward Gibraltar Point offer significantly better off-lead options than the busy central section even outside the ban period.
