The beach is 0.7 miles off and it is the reason for the town: an enormous run of sand under pine woods, with a line of beach huts standing on stilts along the edge of the trees, painted every colour there is. The pines went in to hold the dunes and now make a shaded track running behind the whole length of the sand. Two dogs get open beach at low water and pinewood on the way back.
