Every morning here opens with the same decision, which is forest or sea. Everton sits between the two and Forest Edge stands on that line, a five star dog friendly house for twelve with five bedrooms, three bathrooms, an enclosed garden and three dogs welcome. The trees are behind and the shingle is in front. Most weeks people end up doing both.

A party this size needs a house that comes apart, and this one does: five bedrooms over three bathrooms, a hot tub outside, games for the stretch of day nobody planned. The garden is enclosed with plenty in it worth investigating, and a wood fire deals with the evening. Being able to bring three dogs instead of one is what lets two families travel here as a single booking rather than two.

The house was reworked in 2022 and it shows in small ways, mostly involving coats and floors that do not mind them. Late on, the hot tub holds somebody who announced they were going to read instead, the fire is going, and three dogs lie spread across the ground floor the way dogs do after a long afternoon on a beach. Nobody has started cooking.

Milford on Sea is 1.3 miles down the road, a long shingle beach with the Isle of Wight sitting across the water and the Needles at the far end of it. From the end of the beach Hurst Spit runs 1.5 miles out into the Solent to a castle Henry VIII put up on the shingle, which is among the strangest walks on this coast and is flat the entire way. Behind the house the forest starts, so three dogs can go from open water to closed woodland inside ten minutes.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Forest Edge dog friendly?

Yes, Forest Edge welcomes up to three dogs, which is one of the things that makes it well suited to two families travelling together as a single booking. The house was reworked in 2022 with practical details like durable floors and space for coats, so it's genuinely set up for dogs rather than just tolerating them.

  • Are dogs allowed at Forest Edge year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, and nothing in the description suggests otherwise. If dates and dog numbers are important to your trip, it's worth confirming directly with the property when you book.

  • What should I know before visiting Forest Edge with my dog?

The garden is enclosed, which gives dogs a safe space to stretch out without you having to think too hard about it. Beyond the property, the location is genuinely good for dogs: Milford on Sea beach is 1.3 miles away, and the forest starts directly behind the house, so you can go from open shingle to woodland walking in under ten minutes.
