Lavender Lodge - New Forest

Godshill Wood, Hampshire

A two bedroom lodge for four at Godshill Wood in Hampshire, next to the owners' stable yard, with an enclosed lawn, a sheltered hot tub and two dogs welcome.

Book now

The owners' stable yard is next door and the deck looks straight at it, so two dogs here will spend much of the week learning about horses through a fence. Lavender Lodge takes four at Godshill Wood in Hampshire, dog friendly, two bedrooms, an enclosed lawn below the deck and two dogs allowed.

A shared drive comes through the farmyard to a private gated entrance, and a gravel path and a slope lead up to the door. Inside is one open room: the kitchen on the right as you come in, somewhere to eat opposite it and the seating beyond that. The bedrooms lead off an inner hall, a king and a twin, both zip and link so either can be made up the other way, and two dogs cover the whole plan in about nine seconds.

The deck wraps two sides of the lodge and looks over fields, the stables and a small stream running past them. Underneath it lies the lawn, enclosed, and that is the part two dogs are let loose on. The hot tub stands sheltered on its own and is reached by stepping stones across the gravel, so getting to it means crossing ground that is not part of the fence, and the owners keep it for over-16s.

Godshill Wood holds a scatter of houses on the western side of the National Park with a working farm in the middle of them, and the lanes out are single track with grass along the edges. The riding and walking routes begin where the tarmac stops. Two dogs get farmland at the gate and open ground the moment the fields give out.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Lavender Lodge - New Forest dog friendly?

Yes, Lavender Lodge welcomes up to two dogs. There's an enclosed lawn beneath the deck where they can run free, and farmland and open ground are accessible right from the gate once the fields give out.

  • Are dogs allowed at Lavender Lodge - New Forest year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, but we'd recommend contacting the owners directly to confirm availability and any conditions for your dates.

  • What should I know before visiting Lavender Lodge - New Forest with my dog?

The maximum is two dogs, and they'll have the run of the enclosed lawn beneath the deck — though with the owners' stable yard right next door, expect them to spend a fair bit of time observing the horses through the fence. The hot tub area is reached via stepping stones across unenclosed gravel, so it falls outside the fenced section, and it's reserved for guests over 16. The approach to the lodge is via a shared farm drive leading to a private gated entrance, with a gravel path and a slope up to the door, which is worth bearing in mind for dogs who need a fully secure arrival route.
