This one was built as a holiday lodge rather than converted into one, which shows in a plan where nothing has been left over from a previous use. Pond Lodge was built for four across two bedrooms at Banningham in Norfolk, dog friendly, two dogs allowed, single storey throughout, with lawn, patio and a fence round the lot behind it.

It stands on the owners' own grounds, so what lies outside the garden is their land rather than a road, and the fence is still where two dogs stop. A hallway runs from one end of the building to the other with everything opening off it. Right of the door the kitchen and dining area come first, four seats at the table, and the lounge is at the back with fields in the window and two sofas turned at them.

The double is off the hallway with a shower room and WC beside it, and the master is at the far end with a king bed and a shower room to itself, so four people have two of everything and nobody stands about. Nothing in the lodge is above ground level, which is the shape that suits an old dog and also the one where nobody is upstairs wondering what the noise downstairs was.

Aylsham keeps cobbled streets and narrow alleys behind its market place, with a twice weekly market still running in them, and it is under three miles from this door. Around Banningham the country is arable and the village itself is quiet enough to be unremarkable, which is most of the appeal of taking a lodge in one. Two dogs get arable edge at the gate and a town small enough to walk round in an afternoon.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Pond Lodge dog friendly?

Yes, Pond Lodge welcomes dogs — up to two are allowed. The lodge has a fenced lawn and patio behind it, and because it sits on the owners' own grounds, what lies beyond the garden is their land rather than a road, which makes it a reassuring setup for dogs.

  • Are dogs allowed at Pond Lodge year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs at Pond Lodge. For confirmation of availability at a particular time of year, it's worth checking directly with the owner when you book.

  • What should I know before visiting Pond Lodge with my dog?

The lodge allows a maximum of two dogs, and the garden is fully fenced, so that's the boundary they'll have to work within. The single-storey layout is a practical plus — no stairs to manage, which suits older or less mobile dogs well. Beyond the gate, the surrounding countryside is arable farmland, so there's open, quiet walking on the doorstep, and the small market town of Aylsham is under three miles away if you fancy exploring further.
