Wyndswept

Wells-next-the-Sea, Norfolk

A five bedroom house for twelve at Wells-next-the-Sea with a raised lawn behind a five bar gate, a ground floor bedroom and shower room, and two dogs welcome.

The lawn is shut off by a five bar gate. That is a farm gate rather than a garden one, hung at the top of a few steps behind the house, and it is more ironmongery than a town lawn usually gets. Wyndswept is a dog friendly house at Wells-next-the-Sea sleeping twelve over five bedrooms, with two dogs allowed.

Twelve is a real number here rather than a maximum. One table seats the lot of them, the kitchen runs an island unit behind it, and French doors open from both that room and the lounge onto a slate terrace, so a house this full has two ways out to the garden rather than one. Two dogs will have learned both by the second morning.

A bedroom sits down at ground level, a shower room and a WC next to it, which in a house of five bedrooms is the one that gets asked for first. Above it the landing looks out over the marsh, and a room of full size bunks and singles takes four children on its own. The lawn past the gate is bounded by hedge and standing trees and has toys and a wendy house on it, and two dogs will make a circuit of the whole thing before either settles.

The town is a working one before it is a holiday one and the quay is four or five minutes away on foot: boats that go out for whelks, a channel that fills and empties twice over, and a row of buildings that have faced it a long time. Past it the harbour runs north between banks of marsh towards open water, and a dog gets sky, mud and salt on that walk in great quantity.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Wyndswept dog friendly?

Yes, Wyndswept welcomes up to two dogs. It's a large five bedroom house sleeping twelve near Wells-next-the-Sea, so there's plenty of space for everyone — and the garden, enclosed by hedge and standing trees with a five bar gate, gives dogs room to properly explore.

  • Are dogs allowed at Wyndswept year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, but we'd recommend confirming directly with the owner when you book to be sure your dates are covered.

  • What should I know before visiting Wyndswept with my dog?

The garden is secured by a five bar gate at the top of a few steps behind the house, so it's a contained space for dogs to roam freely across the lawn. The town quay is just four or five minutes on foot, and from there you can follow the harbour north through open marsh — a walk that offers dogs plenty of sky, mud and salt air. Just bear in mind the two dog limit when planning your trip.
