Blickling Estate Park & Lake Walk

Blickling Estate surrounds one of England's finest Jacobean houses, set in Norfolk parkland with a lake, ancient woodland and formal gardens managed by the National Trust. This 4.8 km circuit follows well-maintained paths through the estate grounds, skirting the lake where the hall is reflected in the water, passing through mature woodland where the canopy closes overhead, and crossing open parkland with views back to the house. The terrain is flat throughout with barely 15 m of climbing, and the paths are reliable in all seasons. The estate has a composed, unhurried quality that makes for a calm and absorbing walk.

For dogs this is a gentle dog friendly walk that suits quieter outings. The woodland sections carry good scent from leaf litter and damp undergrowth, and the lakeside attracts birdlife that provides visual and scent interest. Leads are required throughout as wildlife and livestock are present across the estate, including deer in the park. The well-maintained paths are easy on joints and suit dogs of all ages, and the short distance makes this practical for older dogs or puppies. The combination of water, woodland and open parkland provides enough variety to hold a dog's attention despite the on-lead requirement. Parking is available at the estate car park.
