Grey Mare's Tail and Loch Skeen
Glasgow
Grey Mare's Tail and Loch Skeen is a dog friendly walk to one of Scotland's most spectacular waterfalls and the beautiful mountain loch that feeds it. The 60m cascade of the Grey Mare's Tail is visible from the road, but the walk climbs a well constructed path alongside the falls to reach Loch Skeen, ringed by craggy hillsides in a dramatic corrie setting.
Dogs should be kept under close control on the steep path beside the falls, where the drop into the ravine is severe. Once at Loch Skeen the terrain opens out and dogs can explore more freely. The path is good but steep, and care is needed above the gorge in wet or icy conditions. The NTS car park on the A708 between Moffat and Selkirk has a seasonal information trailer with webcam of nesting peregrines. A parking charge applies.
