Pitch Hill and Ewhurst Circular Walk
Surrey
Dog friendly and one of the most rewarding viewpoints in the Surrey Hills, this circular climbs up and along Pitch Hill's narrow sandstone spur with open panoramas over Ewhurst, the Weald and the South Downs on a clear day. The loop connects Pitch Hill with Winterfold Forest via a section of the Greensand Way before dropping down through mature pine and oak back to the car park.
Dogs can be off-lead for much of the ridge-top walk but should be kept under close control and leashed on busy weekends, when the Hurtwood tracks are heavily shared with mountain bikers and horse riders. Paths are sandy ridge trails with a few steep pulls and one or two rooty descents. Parking is voluntary-donation at Hurtwood Car Park 3 (GU6 7NL) at the western end of the route.
