Reculver Coastal Walk, Herne Bay
Kent
Reculver Country Park sits on the North Kent coast, anchored by the twin medieval towers of St Mary's Church on the clifftop. This dog friendly route follows the grassed clifftop east from Herne Bay before joining the concrete seawall that leads under the towers and onward toward Minnis Bay, with wide views across the Thames Estuary and a SSSI-protected fossil-rich shoreline below.
The terrain is flat and gentle, mixing grass clifftop paths with a hard surfaced seawall that doubles as a cycle route, so dogs should be kept under close control near bikes. Council patrols issue fines for dogs off lead in the wider Reculver area, so use a long line for off lead time on quiet stretches of the cliff. There are two pay and display car parks, public toilets, and a cafe and visitor centre at the towers, with the Ethelbert Inn directly opposite for post walk refreshment.
