Hopton-on-Sea Beach
Norfolk
Hopton-on-Sea Beach sits at the boundary between Suffolk and Norfolk, a wide and largely uncommercialised stretch of sand and shingle south of Great Yarmouth. The beach has a broad, open character with low cliffs behind and an uninterrupted view out across the southern North Sea. Hopton is a small village with a caravan and holiday park behind the beach, and the beach itself is the main attraction: it is long, flat and generally uncrowded outside of the summer holiday period. The Suffolk Coast Path connects southwards toward Corton and Lowestoft, and the Norfolk Coast is easily accessible northward toward Gorleston and Great Yarmouth.
This is a reliably dog friendly beach for much of the year. There are no East Suffolk Council PSPOs in force here as the beach falls within the Great Yarmouth Borough, and no seasonal restrictions have been widely reported. The open, relatively quiet beach makes it a good choice for a long beach walk with a dog, and the low visitor numbers outside summer mean plenty of space. The holiday park behind the beach has a reception area and basic facilities. Parking is available off Beach Road.
