Three dogs are welcome at A La Mer, a superb and luxurious family home in Appledore, laid out on reverse levels so the living space makes the most of the panoramic sea views. This dog friendly house sleeps eight, and outside there are two enclosed garden spaces, a private hot tub and a hot and cold shower for washing off sandy dogs.
Upstairs, the open plan living space opens through sliding doors onto a large balcony with seating. The kitchen has an island with stools and a large dining table for mealtimes, with a utility room just off it and a handy shower room too. Three dogs settle in the lounge after the beach, by the media wall with its contemporary electric fire, while the separate snug, with its games table, is a great space for family time.
On the entrance floor are the bedrooms: a king-size and a double, each with an en suite shower room, two twin rooms and a family bathroom, with underfloor heating in all three bathrooms. From the lounge, sliding doors lead to the rear garden and across a bridge to an enclosed terrace with the private hot tub, furniture, a BBQ and views over the estuary. On the upper level an enclosed lawn has more seating, and to the side the hot and cold shower is ready for dogs and sandy toes.
The coastal path is 100 metres away, so the dogs' morning walk begins almost at the door. Appledore has a rich history, a Maritime Museum, and charming streets of shops, galleries, pubs and restaurants. Westward Ho!, 2 miles away, is known for its sandy beach and unique pebble ridge, and RHS Rosemoor and The Big Sheep are in reach.
