Book now

Angelrocks Farmhouse stands on a hilltop near the pretty hamlet of Painscastle, a beautifully renovated detached house with spectacular countryside views and attention to detail throughout. It is a dog friendly farmhouse for ten people and two dogs, with Hay-on-Wye a short drive away and a private hot tub for evenings under the night sky.

You step straight into the kitchen and diner, finished to an impeccable standard while keeping a wealth of character, with full length bi-fold glass doors to take in the views. There is a Rangemaster cooker and a large island for a morning pot of tea, a utility room and a ground floor shower room just off it, and a formal dining area for meals together. The lounge has exposed beams, comfy seating and a large fireplace with a wood burner, where the dogs curl up once the walking is done.

A formal staircase leads up to a spacious landing with a large feature window, and off it are four super king bedrooms and a twin, all with views of the rolling countryside, the master with an en suite shower room, plus a family bathroom. Outside, the enclosed garden and patio have furniture for dining outdoors, there is a charcoal BBQ, and the private hot tub is there to enjoy the wonderful scenery while the dogs settle on the patio.

For the more energetic, the Begwyns are 580 acres of National Trust hills and rolling landscape with views across the Brecon Beacons National Park, country two dogs will want to cover. Hay-on-Wye is renowned for its International Book Festival, second-hand bookshops and art house cinema, and the Beacons and the River Wye offer canoe hire, high ropes and gorge walking.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Angelrocks Farmhouse dog friendly?

Yes, Angelrocks Farmhouse is dog friendly and actually comes with two resident dogs of its own. The property has an enclosed garden that runs around the house, and grass tracks leading off-tarmac are just minutes from the gate, so it's well set up for dogs from the moment you arrive.

  • Are dogs allowed at Angelrocks Farmhouse year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions, so there's nothing to suggest dogs aren't welcome throughout the year. If you're planning a specific date, it's always worth confirming directly with the property when you book.

  • What should I know before visiting Angelrocks Farmhouse with my dog?

The house comes with two resident dogs, so it's worth bearing that in mind if your dog isn't comfortable around others. On the practical side, there's a ground floor shower room and utility room that make cleaning up after muddy walks straightforward, and the enclosed garden means dogs can roam outside safely without needing to be watched constantly.
