April Cottage - Beadnell

Beadnell, Northumberland

A four bedroom house for eight at Beadnell with garden on three sides, two ground floor bedrooms and a garage for wet kit, two dogs welcome.

The dogs have worked out that the garden goes round three sides of the house and are doing a circuit. April Cottage is a dog friendly house for eight at Beadnell with two dogs on the booking, a paved courtyard enclosed at the back and a lawn at the front. Two of its four bedrooms sit at ground level, and so does a bathroom. Beadnell bay begins at the end of the street.

Indoors the rooms are separate rather than knocked into one, which is what makes eight people workable: a lounge with a fireplace, a dining room round the table, a kitchen with breakfast seating, and a conservatory whose garden door the dogs will use most. Two further twins are upstairs, with a shower room on that floor.

Two families, or three generations, is what the house is for: eight beds across four rooms and two dogs somewhere in the middle of it. A king and a twin on the ground floor keep grandparents and an older dog off the stairs. The garage takes the wet half of the week, a washing machine in it and room to hang whatever has been in the sea.

The village behind the bay is worth a lap before you reach the sand. St Ebba's stands at the top of it, and the flat ground down towards the water held the herring yards, where the summer catch was gutted and salted before the fishing moved elsewhere. The beach starts at the end of the street and is open to dogs every month of the year. Eight people and two dogs can leave at different hours and still meet on the same sand.
