April Cottage is an attractive, spacious holiday home in the seaside village of Beadnell, made for up to eight people and two dogs, and close to a horseshoe shaped beach that runs for over 3 miles south to Newton by the Sea. It makes a dog friendly seaside base for a family, with gardens on three sides of the house to follow the daylight round.
The traditionally furnished lounge has plenty of seating, a feature electric fireplace and a TV, and a separate dining room seats all eight in style. The kitchen is elegantly designed and fully equipped, with a breakfast table for four, and the conservatory opens onto the garden, which is where the dogs will want to be whenever they are not on the beach.
The ground floor holds a king bedroom and a twin overlooking the garden, with a modern bathroom on the same floor, and upstairs two more twins look out over the village alongside a shower room. The garage is a real asset for an active family, with an extra fridge, washing machine and tumble dryer, storage for bikes, diving gear, fishing tackle and golf clubs, and space to dry wetsuits and surfboards. The paved courtyard at the back is enclosed, and that is where the dogs settle while the garden furniture comes out of the garage. There is a lawn garden at the front as well.
The beach is ideal for water sports, and the coastal path leads the dogs on to Seahouses and Bamburgh, with boat trips from there to the Farne Islands or Lindisfarne. The market town of Alnwick, with its famous castle and gardens, makes an excellent day trip.
