Ash Lea was once the home of one of the original Seahouses boat builders, and its sympathetic refurbishment has kept some of the original features, even putting some of the remaining boat building materials to use. Today it is a spacious dog friendly house for six, two dogs are welcome, and the beach, the harbour and everything in the village are an easy walk from the door.
The hallway has coat hooks and space for boots, the first stop when the dogs come in off the sand. The beautifully presented lounge has a cosy wood burner, a cushioned window seat and a Smart TV. Further in, a super extension holds the open plan kitchen and diner, which is flooded by light through skylights and almost wall to wall bifold doors, with seating to keep the cook company and a table overlooking the garden, where the dogs wait for the doors to open.
Those doors lead to a raised decked patio with a table for meals outside, and four steps made from original boatyard wood take you down to the rest of the generous enclosed garden, where the dogs can stretch their legs while supper is on the go. Upstairs, all three bedrooms have a TV and the king size is en suite, while the bright family bathroom has a large P shaped bath with a shower over it.
From the door you can wander down to the beach for a picnic, or take the coastal path to Bamburgh with the castle in view ahead and the dogs out in front. Boat trips head out to the birdlife of the Farne Islands, the causeway crosses to Holy Island, and Beadnell Bay has its sand dunes and water sports.
