Book now

Bay Cottage is a lovely period cottage set in a converted dairy barn on a gorgeous horse riding farm, just 2 miles from the island's centre, and there is a separate exercise area for the dogs on site. It is a dog friendly rural escape, sleeping four with two dogs, with exposed beams and stylish decor throughout.

You come through a striking archway and into a quaint courtyard to find the cottage. Inside, the well equipped kitchen comes first, and a reception hall leads on to the light lounge and diner, offering ample comfy seating, somewhere to eat together and a Smart TV, the dogs dozing nearby through the evening film. A large shower room and a door to the garden complete the ground floor.

Upstairs, the king-size zip and link bedroom looks over the garden, with an en suite bathroom for a long soak, and the zip and link twin is en suite too. To the rear lies the enclosed garden, furnished for al fresco dining and with a BBQ, while at the front a communal garden with seating serves the courtyard. The dogs have their exercise area on site as well, with paddocks of sheep, pigs and horses all around.

The farm keeps everyone busy, with the resident pigs and sheep to visit, horse riding with the on-site professionals, an on-site restaurant and a children's play park. Butterfly World and Monkey Haven are within 0.5 miles, Tapnell Farm and Blackgang Chine make a longer day out, and the island's many walking and cycling trails, with amazing views over coast and countryside, are wonderful with dogs.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Bay Cottage dog friendly?

Yes, Bay Cottage welcomes up to two dogs. The ground floor is set up with them in mind — there's a shower room with its own door directly onto the garden, so muddy paws and wet coats can be dealt with before anyone sets foot on the rest of the cottage.

  • Are dogs allowed at Bay Cottage year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's worth contacting the property directly to confirm availability for your dates. The cottage is described as fitted out for a full week rather than just a weekend, which suggests it's in regular use throughout the year.

  • What should I know before visiting Bay Cottage with my dog?

Bay Cottage sits on a working farm with pigs, sheep, and horses, so dogs will need to be kept under close control around the livestock — the farm tracks and surrounding fields are a real draw, but responsible handling is essential. The upstairs rooms are where dogs stop following you, so bedrooms are off limits. On the plus side, the island's walking and cycling routes are reachable from the property without touching a main road, and the courtyard and enclosed garden give dogs a safe space to settle between adventures.
