Book now

Bethel Villa Lodge is a beautifully handcrafted cabin in the heart of the Carmarthenshire countryside, and its covered wooden terrace looks out over peaceful views to the soothing sound of a nearby stream. This dog friendly cabin is a romantic retreat for two, and up to two dogs can join the trip.

Step through the French doors into a single open plan space that takes in living, cooking and dining, full of unique touches and charming details. Curl up with a book or in front of the Smart TV after a day out, cook in the kitchen with its Welsh dresser, and fold out the dining table for an intimate supper. Two dogs settle in quickly here. The double bed sits in a dreamy nook hung with twinkling lights and delicate floral accents, and the floral theme carries on into the stylish shower room with its Victorian-style basin.

Wander further into the whimsical garden and you reach a sunken fire pit and BBQ area, the place to gather under the stars sharing stories. Please note that dogs will be able to access the running stream. Evenings end out there by the fire pit, two dogs at your side and the stars overhead.

Llandovery is 4 miles away, a vibrant town of independent shops and eateries and a stop on the Heart of Wales railway, and it is the gateway to the Cambrian Mountains and the western fringes of the Brecon Beacons, with walking for the dogs in every direction. Llanwrtyd Wells is known for its quirky events, and RSPB Gwenffrwd-Dinas, 9 miles off, is the place for red kites, pied flycatchers and redstarts.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Bethel Villa Lodge dog friendly?

Yes, Bethel Villa Lodge welcomes up to two dogs. The cabin has an enclosed garden, a sheltered terrace, and a fire pit — and the property backs onto a stream that dogs can reach, which will likely be their highlight of the whole trip.

  • Are dogs allowed at Bethel Villa Lodge year round?

The listing doesn't specify seasonal restrictions, and the cabin is fully insulated and heated throughout, making it a practical choice whatever the time of year. Two dogs steaming gently by the door after a wet walk in the hills is described as manageable rather than a problem.

  • What should I know before visiting Bethel Villa Lodge with my dog?

The owners make a point of mentioning, unprompted, that dogs can reach the running stream within the enclosed garden — so pack a dedicated dog towel (or two). The cabin sleeps two people in a compact, open-plan space, so it's worth knowing it's cosy rather than spacious, though that's very much part of the appeal.
