Steps lead down from the garden of Bonchurch Waterfront Bliss to the pedestrian only promenade, and from there a wonderful coastal walk runs to Ventnor with two well-behaved dogs trotting ahead. Right on the seafront at Bonchurch, this dog friendly home sleeps six, holds a five star grading, and has far-reaching sea views from many rooms and the garden.

The renovation was done to a very high standard, and the house is furnished with great sensitivity and a wonderful use of light and colour, all on one level from the driveway through. The open plan living area looks out to sea through floor to ceiling windows, with patio doors onto the garden, a dining area around a circular table, and a pristine kitchen with a range style cooker and a central island. Indoors or out, the dogs have the promenade in sight.

Both super-king bedrooms have French doors: one opens onto a terrace with table and chairs and lovely sea views, the other offers glimpses of the sea and direct access to the terrace and garden, and a twin completes the three. Outside, the private walled and fenced garden has a BBQ, garden furniture and padded reclining sun loungers, with the sea laid out beyond. Lunch is out there, two dogs flat out after the morning's walk.

Bonchurch has a peaceful air, much loved by Victorian writers and poets, and its village centre, a short walk off, has a large pond full of wildlife, an 11th century church, beautiful stone buildings and sub-tropical plants. The promenade leads through Wheelers Bay to Ventnor, with its beach and cafes, and eastwards the coastal path takes the dogs through the rural hamlet of Luccombe to Shanklin, a great route for a day's walk.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Bonchurch Waterfront Bliss dog friendly?

Yes — up to two dogs are welcome at Bonchurch Waterfront Bliss. The property has a private walled and fenced garden facing the sea that dogs can be let into off-lead, and the seafront promenade directly outside is closed to traffic all the way towards Ventnor.

  • Are dogs allowed at Bonchurch Waterfront Bliss year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, and nothing in the property details suggests otherwise. If you want to confirm availability for specific dates, it's worth checking directly with the host.

  • What should I know before visiting Bonchurch Waterfront Bliss with my dog?

The whole house is on one level with no internal stairs and no kerb between the driveway and the front, which makes it particularly well suited to older or less mobile dogs. The enclosed garden can be accessed without a lead, and the traffic-free promenade starts right at the door — Monks Bay, a shingle and rock beach, is just 0.3 miles east. For longer walks, the Undercliff coast path runs west of the village and the downs rise steeply enough behind the houses that you can reach the top of the island within half an hour.
