1 / 21Bramley Lodge
Whitecroft, Gloucestershire
A one bedroom lodge for two at Whitecroft in the Forest of Dean with an enclosed lawn, a wood burner and three dogs welcome, close to Nagshead.
Three dogs in a one bedroom lodge for two, which is the most generous ratio in this part of the collection. Bramley Lodge stands at Whitecroft in the middle of the Forest of Dean, dog friendly, with a double, a shower room and an enclosed lawn beyond the seating outside. The forest itself starts more or less at the end of the garden.
Three dogs and two people is the entire design. There is one bedroom, one shower room, a wood burner kept supplied with logs from October through April, and a kitchen carrying a dishwasher and a washing machine. Everything else worth doing happens outdoors, which in the Forest of Dean is the right way round rather than a shortfall.
The lawn is properly enclosed, and for three dogs that is not a small claim, because a lodge this size with a fence that did not hold would be unusable. There is fishing within reach for anybody who wants a still morning standing in one place. Otherwise the pattern sets itself: out into the trees after breakfast, back when the light goes, and three dogs asleep before anyone has made a decision about supper.
Nagshead, 1.2 miles off, is an RSPB reserve in old oak where pied flycatchers still use nest boxes put up a century ago and the woodpeckers are loud enough to find without looking. Parkend sits just below it, and the old coal railway out of the village is now a track running down through the trees to Whitecroft. Three dogs get oak woodland in every direction with no road to cross to reach any of it.

Book with holidaycottages.co.ukFrequently Asked Questions
Is Bramley Lodge dog friendly?
Bramley Lodge is built around dogs — it welcomes up to three, which is one of the most generous allowances in its collection. The lodge has an enclosed lawn, direct access to Forest of Dean woodland, and oak trails in every direction without a road to cross.
Are dogs allowed at Bramley Lodge year round?
Yes, dogs are welcome throughout the year. The lodge has a wood burner kept stocked with logs from October through April, so muddy winter walks followed by a warm evening indoors is very much part of the appeal.
What should I know before visiting Bramley Lodge with my dog?
The lawn is properly enclosed, which matters when you have three dogs, and the Forest of Dean begins more or less at the end of the garden. Nagshead RSPB reserve is 1.2 miles away, and the old coal railway from nearby Parkend offers a traffic-free wooded trail straight to Whitecroft — so off-lead or long-lead walking is genuinely easy to manage here.
