Three dogs are welcome at Bramley Lodge, a detached timber clad cottage tucked into the side of a valley at Saunders Green, near Whitecroft, overlooking open countryside. Romantic and dog friendly, it sleeps two, with the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley within reach and an enclosed lawn beyond the patio that the owners call ideal for dogs.

Inside, slate flooring, high ceilings and fresh decor set the tone. The kitchen has everything needed for the stay, a Dolce Gusto coffee machine included, and the lounge diner has a table for romantic meals before the evening moves to the wood burner, with the TV, DVD player and a Bluetooth speaker close by. Most evenings close with three dogs dozing by its glow. Dogs are not permitted upstairs, and a stair gate is provided; up there, the double bedroom has a large skylight letting in plenty of natural light, plus an en suite with a shower.

Out of doors, garden furniture on a pretty patio is ready for BBQs, and it leads onto the enclosed lawn, which three dogs make for the moment they are back from the forest paths. It makes a peaceful spot for a coffee while they explore.

This is a beautiful area for walking, cycling and riding, and the forest and valley paths give the dogs a different route every day.
