Bryn Powys stands in 9 acres of woodland in the tranquil hamlet of Rhiwlas, with the Berwyn mountains on the doorstep. It is a luxurious, five star dog friendly house for eight that welcomes three dogs, with a wood-fired hot tub, a games room and an enclosed, spectacular landscaped garden beyond its bifold doors.

The large kitchen has bifold doors, a glass atrium and a central island for group cooking, and in the evening supper moves out onto the patio for the views. Underfloor heating keeps everything warm, foosball and table tennis fill the games room, and the snug pairs leather seating with a wood burner and Smart TV, which is where three dogs settle once the day is done. A spacious utility boot room takes the muddy boots.

Upstairs, a sewing gallery leads to four en-suite bedrooms: a king-size with a magnificent triangular window over the hillside, a twin, a super-king with a freestanding bath, and a second super-king with a dressing room, a private conservatory and its own door to the garden. Out on the paved patio, with its feature lighting and panoramic views, there is the hot tub and a table for dining, and the dogs can join a game of ball on the lush grass by the summerhouse.

The 9 acres of woodland are there to explore, and paths and trails begin right from the doorstep for days out with the dogs. Chirk and Oswestry are a short distance away for shops, restaurants and cafes, Chirk Castle, Powis Castle and Erddig are all cared for by the National Trust, and Lake Vyrnwy makes a memorable day out.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Bryn Powys dog friendly?

Yes, Bryn Powys welcomes up to three dogs. The property sits in its own woodland acres with an enclosed garden nearest the house, so there's plenty of safe space for dogs to roam while you get settled.

  • Are dogs allowed at Bryn Powys year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's worth contacting the property directly to confirm availability for your dates. What we can say is that the setup — woodland grounds, an enclosed garden and a wood burner to settle beside — works just as well in the depths of winter as it does in summer.

  • What should I know before visiting Bryn Powys with my dog?

Up to three dogs are welcome, and the garden closest to the house is enclosed, which makes arrivals and wind-downs easier. Beyond the garden there's open woodland and acres of ground to explore, and the surrounding area adds to the offer — Old Oswestry hillfort is 4 miles east and walkable all the way round the top, while Lake Vyrnwy is an option for a longer day out.
