Coachmans Cottage was originally part of the coach house and stables for Pencombe Hall, built by the Arkwright family in 1862, and it is full of character. Set within 1 acre of well stocked gardens, with lovely views towards Pencombe village and the hills beyond, it is a stylish, five star and thoroughly dog friendly place for four guests, with two small dogs welcome too.
The cottage looks onto a beautiful fountain in a courtyard that keeps many of its original features. Inside, the hallway has stone floors with underfloor heating and space for coats and boots when the dogs come in from a walk. The kitchen is cool and contemporary, with a breakfast table and a welcome basket of local and home made produce waiting, and the lounge has colourful soft furnishings, interesting artwork, a wood burner and one of the original arched windows looking onto the gardens.
Upstairs, both rooms have walk-in wardrobes, soft bed linens and dressing gowns: a king-size, and a super-king that can become twins. Outside is the gated private garden with a patio and a Weber gas BBQ, and the cedar summer house, insulated, double glazed and heated, with a table and cushioned seats for afternoon tea or wildlife watching while the dogs potter on the lawn.
Local walks start from the front door into the hills around, and a bookable private pool is 300 yards away for a swim. The grounds can be explored by request with the owner. Hereford and Worcester, with their cathedrals and riverside walks, are within 20 miles, and the Forest of Dean, the Malverns and the Brecon Beacons offer the dogs a whole landscape of meadows and hills.
