Three dogs are welcome at Cormorant Cottage, a dog friendly house in the famous sailing town of Cowes with nautical touches at every turn. A flat walk leads into the heart of a town renowned for its sailing heritage, with the beach and coastal path beyond, and the dogs get to the esplanade without anyone picking up the car keys.

The living room has dog friendly flooring, comfortable seating and a Smart TV, which settles the question of where everybody lands after a day out. The kitchen has an island, a DeLonghi coffee machine and French doors that open onto the garden and fill the room with light. A toilet downstairs completes that floor. Up the stairs are three bedrooms, two doubles and a third room with zip and link super king beds, which become twins if requested at the time of booking, with a newly refitted en suite plus a family bathroom.

The garden is wholly enclosed, with a BBQ, and seven steps lead up to the raised decking, a suntrap set with rattan furniture. That is where breakfast gets planned and the afternoon goes, three dogs flat out on the boards and somebody lost in a book. In the evening there are boardgames in the lounge and the dogs asleep across the floor.

Cowes has marinas, galleries, the Classic Boat Museum and panoramic views over the Solent, with Cowes Beach close by for watching the world go by with a dog at your feet. Osborne House is 9 miles off across the floating bridge, and the old railway line along the River Medina runs 5 miles to Newport, a long walk out with the dogs.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Cormorant Cottage dog friendly?

Yes, Cormorant Cottage welcomes up to three dogs per booking. The house has been set up with them in mind — there's an enclosed garden, a raised decking area, and a living room floor chosen to suit dogs as much as people.

  • Are dogs allowed at Cormorant Cottage year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's worth contacting the property directly to confirm availability for your dates. What we can say is that the setup — enclosed garden, dog-friendly interiors, and easy access to beaches and walks — makes it a solid choice whatever the time of year.

  • What should I know before visiting Cormorant Cottage with my dog?

The main thing to flag is the seven steps between the enclosed garden and the raised decking — worth bearing in mind if you're travelling with an older or less mobile dog. Beyond that, the house is well suited to dogs, and the surrounding area offers a good range of walks without needing a car, including Cowes Beach under a mile away, Gurnard's Beach at 1.3 miles, an esplanade, and a towpath along the River Medina.
