Cove Cottage - Seahouses

Seahouses, Northumberland

A three bedroom cottage for five near the middle of Seahouses with an enclosed rear lawn, a conservatory and sea views from the master, one dog welcome.

The dog has taken the conservatory, because it has the sofas in it and it looks at the garden. Cove Cottage stands near the middle of Seahouses, dog friendly, five across three bedrooms with one dog, and the lawn out there is enclosed, a second smaller garden at the front. The master bedroom upstairs sees the sea.

The lounge at the front has a sofa, chairs and shelves of books and games. The kitchen and dining room behind seats six. The conservatory is the third room and the one everybody underestimates until the second morning. Upstairs the king, the twin and the single share one bathroom. The whole ground floor belongs to the dog, which will use all three rooms in turn.

It is a family cottage rather than a couples one, and one dog is the allowance. Five people and one bathroom means an order to the morning, but the conservatory is what lifts the place: a third sitting room facing the garden, worth more here than another bedroom would be. The cottage also carries guest membership of the Ocean Club in the village, with its 20 metre indoor pool and sauna, for anybody wanting an hour indoors while the rest are on sand.

North out of the village the shore goes to rock for a stretch, and at Monks House black ledges run out where the monks of Lindisfarne once kept a landing. Sand resumes past it and carries on to Bamburgh. That stretch gives a dog weed, pools and the smell of a hundred things at once, and it takes twice as long over a mile as open sand does. The ledges are open to dogs the year round.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Cove Cottage - Seahouses dog friendly?

Yes, Cove Cottage welcomes one dog. The ground floor is essentially the dog's domain, with access to the lounge, kitchen and dining room, and the conservatory — which opens onto an enclosed rear lawn, handy for letting a dog out safely.

  • Are dogs allowed at Cove Cottage - Seahouses year round?

The cottage itself is available with your dog regardless of season. The nearby shore north of Seahouses, including the black rock ledges at Monks House, is open to dogs year round, so you won't find yourself restricted to the pavement whatever time of year you visit.

  • What should I know before visiting Cove Cottage - Seahouses with my dog?

The allowance is one dog, so it's worth knowing before you book if you have more than one. The rear lawn is enclosed, which is a real practical bonus, and the rocky stretch north toward Bamburgh — with its pools and kelp-covered ledges — is the kind of walking that takes far longer than the distance suggests, so factor that in when planning your days out.
