Cowper Cottage

Mundesley, Norfolk

Cowper Cottage takes six at Mundesley on the north east Norfolk coast, with enclosed garden and patio at the front and the rear, a wood burner and two dogs welcome, the sand 0.3 miles down the road.

The gate at the bottom of the back garden opens onto the main road, and the walk down to the sand starts on the other side of it. That is the one latch to be firm about, because the garden and patio are enclosed at both ends of the house, front and back. Cowper Cottage holds six at Mundesley on the north east Norfolk coast, dog friendly, three bedrooms, two dogs welcome.

The rear door is the one to come in by. It opens into a boot room the owners nominate as where the dogs sleep, with a utility and a WC before the kitchen, so a wet morning is largely dealt with before the house proper starts. Beams run through the whole of it, the wood burner in the lounge comes with its first logs already stacked, and a snug off that holds a desk.

Upstairs the main bedroom keeps its bathroom to itself, bath at one end and shower at the other; the twin and the super king beyond share a shower room. Down again, the conservatory looks straight into the garden, which is where two dogs get watched from. A table tennis table stands out on the patio, and indoors the pool table has a room to itself.

Mundesley keeps a working village behind its beach rather than a resort, with the sand at the bottom of it and cafes and an ice cream parlour along the top. The beach is 0.3 miles off by the route that starts at the back gate, a long shallow stretch with safe swimming and room for two dogs to be let go. Behind the houses the lanes go into arable country quickly and stay quiet.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Cowper Cottage dog friendly?

Yes, Cowper Cottage welcomes up to two dogs. The garden and patio are enclosed at both the front and back of the house, and the beach at Mundesley is just 0.3 miles from the back gate — a long, shallow stretch with room for dogs to run freely.

  • Are dogs allowed at Cowper Cottage year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's best to check directly with the owners when booking if you're planning a visit at a particular time of year. What is clear is that the cottage is set up with dogs genuinely in mind, whatever the season.

  • What should I know before visiting Cowper Cottage with my dog?

The back gate that opens onto the road towards the beach is the one latch to be firm about, as it leads directly out to the main road. The owners designate the boot room as where dogs sleep, which handily sits between the rear door and the main living space — so muddy paws and wet coats are sorted before anyone reaches the kitchen. The garden is enclosed at both ends, giving dogs a safe space to settle outside.
