Driftwood

Walcott, Norfolk

A two bedroom bungalow for four at Walcott on the east Norfolk coast, with a wheelchair accessible wet room, an enclosed rear garden with decking and two dogs welcome.

Book now

The wet room here is built to be wheeled into, grab rails and all, and what that means for everybody else is that there is nothing in the building to step over or climb into. Driftwood lies flat at Walcott on the east Norfolk coast, four across two bedrooms, dog friendly, taking two dogs, with enclosed ground and raised decking behind it.

The front door gives directly onto the lounge and diner. A large sofa and an armchair gather at one end, the table has seating for five in a cottage for four, which is a spare place for whoever turns up, and the kitchen takes the far end of the room. Both bedrooms are doubles with proper storage in them. Nothing in the plan is more than one room from anything else, which two dogs establish inside a minute.

The conservatory is the way out to the garden, two sofas in it and enough sea through the glass to keep reminding you where the village is. The other route runs out of the front and along the side of the house, and that is the one to do on a lead. The garden itself is enclosed, raised decking, chairs and a barbecue on it, and once the conservatory door shuts behind them two dogs have all of it.

Walcott keeps a shop and a couple of pubs and lives behind its own beach. Standing on that beach you can see Mundesley away down the coast one way and Happisburgh the other, which gives a week of walking an obvious shape without anybody planning anything. Two dogs get a tideline down the road and two villages to aim at.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Driftwood dog friendly?

Yes, Driftwood welcomes up to two dogs. The enclosed rear garden means they can roam freely once the conservatory door shuts behind them, and Walcott beach is just down the road for a proper run along the tideline.

  • Are dogs allowed at Driftwood year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs at Driftwood. It's worth checking directly with the owner when you book to confirm availability and any conditions that apply to your stay.

  • What should I know before visiting Driftwood with my dog?

The property takes a maximum of two dogs, so bear that in mind when planning your group. The garden is enclosed so they can be let loose out back, but the route along the side of the house to the front runs onto the road, so that one's on a lead. From Walcott beach you can walk the coast in either direction to Mundesley or Happisburgh, which makes for a good week of walks without much planning needed.
