1 / 23Dunedin - Seahouses
Seahouses, Northumberland
A three bedroom house for six in the middle of Seahouses with bi-fold doors onto a large enclosed garden, two sitting rooms and an open fire, one dog welcome.
The bi-fold doors have been folded right back across the whole rear wall, and the dog has worked out that this is now one room with a lawn in it. Dunedin stands in the middle of Seahouses, dog friendly, six across three bedrooms with one dog allowed, and the enclosed garden beyond those doors is a raised patio with shallow steps to the grass. From the main bedroom you see Bamburgh castle over the top of it.
There are two sitting rooms, which at six people is the useful part. The front one has an open fire in its original fireplace and is the quiet one. The back one is part of the kitchen, glass along the garden wall, and is where everybody ends up, dog included. Upstairs the king has an en suite, the double and the twin the family bathroom.
Bring the dog's bed and its bowls. The house asks for that and allows one dog, a fair exchange for a garden this size in the middle of a village. Six across three bedrooms and two bathrooms suits a family, or a pair of couples with one child. There is room for two cars, which counts for more here than inland, and the fire is laid ready in the front room.
South of the village the sand at Annstead begins where the golf ground runs out, a long stretch behind low dunes that most visitors drive straight past. A burn comes down across it at the north end of Beadnell Bay, cutting a channel that shifts shape every year. Dogs are welcome in every month, and on a weekday out of season one can have the whole length and meet nobody.

Book with holidaycottages.co.ukFrequently Asked Questions
Is Dunedin - Seahouses dog friendly?
Yes, Dunedin welcomes one dog. The house has a large enclosed garden with a raised patio and lawn, accessible through bi-fold doors that open the whole rear wall, so your dog can move freely between inside and out.
Are dogs allowed at Dunedin - Seahouses year round?
Yes, and the surrounding area suits dogs well in every season too. Nearby Annstead Beach, just south of the village at the edge of Beadnell Bay, is open to dogs all year round — and on a weekday out of season you can often have the whole stretch to yourselves.
What should I know before visiting Dunedin - Seahouses with my dog?
The house asks that you bring your dog's own bed and bowls, so pack those before you set off. Only one dog is permitted, but in return you get a generous enclosed garden in the middle of the village — a fair deal by any measure.
