Fairways is a luxurious, single storey coastal retreat on the outskirts of Appledore, remarkably presented throughout, and a dog friendly family home where eight guests and three dogs can spread out. The enclosed garden wraps right around the house, and the shops, galleries and pubs of this traditional fishing village are a short walk away.
The grand open plan living space sets the tone, with underfloor heating, a remarkable kitchen for cooking up a storm while everyone catches up, and an impressive floor to ceiling feature window in the lounge. Rich, soft furnishings, a Smart TV and those views make it easy to sit back, and the warm floor soon has three dogs dozing contentedly.
At the end of the hall, the former garage is now a home cinema with ten cinema seats and a 75 inch Smart TV, alongside a utility area and surfboard racks. Down the hall are four bedrooms, among them a super king that splits into twins on request, a twin with a Wii console, and two kings, one with its own shower room and one with its own wet room, as well as the family bathroom. Outside, the private hot tub, the lawn and the decked area with garden furniture make the garden a lovely place to linger over wine as the light goes, the dogs pottering on the grass.
Appledore has a proud nautical past, with family pubs serving food, restaurants and the Maritime Museum all within a short walk. Westward Ho!, with its beautiful beach and unique pebble ridge linking to Northam Burrows Country Park, is nearby for big beach walks with the dogs, and RHS Rosemoor, The Big Sheep and The Milky Way Adventure Park make good family days out.
