1 / 18Fisherman's Cottage
Boulmer, Northumberland
A cottage for four across the road from the shingle at Boulmer with two enclosed gardens, sea views from the lounge and the master bedroom, three dogs welcome.
Boulmer is a row of houses, a shingle landing and a fleet still putting crab and lobster pots out on the tide, with Fisherman's Cottage across the road from it. Three dogs in a cottage sleeping four is rare anywhere and rarer here. It is dog friendly with two enclosed gardens, a large one at the side and a smaller one in front with the sea in it.
The front door opens into the lounge and diner, water in the window, two sofas round a fire and a table for four. The kitchen runs off that, and a couple of steps from its door reach both gardens. The double leads straight out of the lounge with the same view, the twin looks the other way over the grass, and one shower room serves both. It is a small plan and three dogs move through it easily.
Six in the evening and the boats have gone back out. Two dogs are in the side garden doing nothing in particular; the third has the step, where it can watch the road. Somebody came up from the sand twenty minutes ago and got no further than the window. The fire is on, nothing is cooking, and the light on the water is doing all the work.
Alnmouth lies south round the point, tall houses painted in colours that only make sense from a distance, on a spit between the estuary of the Aln and the sea. The dunes behind its beach run a long way, and the estuary empties and refills twice a day with birds on the mud. It is 2 miles off on the coast path and dogs are welcome the length of it.

Book with holidaycottages.co.ukFrequently Asked Questions
Is Fisherman's Cottage dog friendly?
Yes, and genuinely so — Fisherman's Cottage welcomes up to three dogs, which is unusual for a cottage sleeping four. There are two enclosed gardens, a larger one to the side and a smaller one at the front, so your dogs have safe outdoor space without you needing to think too hard about it.
Are dogs allowed at Fisherman's Cottage year round?
The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's worth contacting the owner directly to confirm availability for your dates. What we can say is that the cottage is set up with dogs firmly in mind, with enclosed gardens and an easy layout that three dogs move through comfortably.
What should I know before visiting Fisherman's Cottage with my dog?
The cottage sits directly across the road from the shingle at Boulmer, so the sea is right there from the moment you arrive. Alnmouth is 2 miles south along the coast path and dogs are welcome the full length of it, with dunes, beach, and an estuary that fills with birds at low tide — plenty to keep an active dog happy.
