Nobody in this house is ever in a different room from the dogs. Lounge, kitchen and dining all share one open space off the hall, and the only other room down here is a conservatory one small step off the kitchen. Forden runs its whole ground floor as one room at Heacham in Norfolk, dog friendly, three bedrooms taking six, an enclosed garden round the back and two dogs allowed.

That open room takes seating for all six at one end, a generous table in the middle and a kitchen at the far end with a dishwasher and a washer dryer in it, which after a week with two dogs and a beach is the pair of machines that matter. The conservatory is where somebody goes with a book when the rest of it gets loud.

The three bedrooms are two doubles and a twin, and the main one has room for a cot beside the bed. The garden is enclosed, patio and lawn with seating out on it and two dogs getting all of it, and there is secure storage outside for bicycles. The property stands in a cul-de-sac, so what passes the front of it is whoever lives at the other end and nobody else at all.

North Beach opens at this end of the village, and the walkway above it runs unbroken all the way to Hunstanton, so the walk or the cycle north is a single decision rather than a route to work out. It is the sort of surface that suits a dog with an opinion about shingle. Behind the sand it turns to arable within a street or two. Two dogs get a made surface north and a field edge south.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Forden dog friendly?

Yes, Forden welcomes up to two dogs. The whole ground floor runs as one open space, so your dogs are always part of whatever is going on rather than shut away from it, and the enclosed garden at the back is theirs to use freely.

  • Are dogs allowed at Forden year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's best to check directly with the property when booking to confirm availability for your dates.

  • What should I know before visiting Forden with my dog?

The house allows a maximum of two dogs, and the garden is fully enclosed with a patio and lawn, so they have safe outdoor space without you needing to worry. After a week on the beach, the washer dryer in the kitchen will be well used — it's very much part of the setup here. North Beach is a short walk away, and the walkway running north to Hunstanton suits dogs who prefer a firm surface to shingle, while field-edge walking is available heading south.
