1 / 13Fordson Cottage
Warenford, Northumberland
A three bedroom single storey cottage for six at Warenford with an enclosed garden and a shared indoor pool, sauna and tennis court, two dogs welcome.
A ramp runs up beside the steps at the entrance, put in as well as them rather than instead. Fordson Cottage sits at Warenford, dog friendly and all on one storey, six people across three bedrooms with two dogs, its small garden behind enclosed by hedge and fence. It belongs to a group of cottages attached to a hotel, so the indoor pool, the sauna and the tennis court are open to guests here.
Everything is on one level once through the door. Two doubles, one with a shower room attached, and a twin, the main bathroom holding the bath. The living area has two leather sofas and a flame effect fire in it, and the kitchen with its table for six is the last room along. A dog crosses the entire cottage and never finds a step.
Four in the afternoon, and somebody has booked the pool for half past. The dogs are not invited and appear to know it. They have stationed themselves at the door in the manner of animals suspecting a betrayal, and will be proved right for about forty minutes. After that everybody comes back smelling of chlorine and the evening resumes.
The Waren Burn runs below the village and works east through farmland to the sea. Spindlestone is on it, where a mill once stood beneath a crag that carries the story of the Laidly Worm, a princess turned into a dragon by her stepmother and coiled round the rock until her brother came home to deal with it. The lanes between here and there are farm lanes, empty and level, good for a dog before anybody else is awake. Bamburgh's sand is 5 miles east.

Book with holidaycottages.co.ukFrequently Asked Questions
Is Fordson Cottage dog friendly?
Yes, Fordson Cottage welcomes up to two dogs. The cottage is single storey throughout, so once your dogs are inside they can roam the whole place without encountering a single step — and the small garden to the rear is enclosed by hedge and fence, giving them a safe space outside too.
Are dogs allowed at Fordson Cottage year round?
The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's best to check directly with the property when booking to confirm availability for your dates.
What should I know before visiting Fordson Cottage with my dog?
The cottage itself is brilliantly set up for dogs — entirely on one level with an enclosed garden — but it's worth knowing that the shared indoor pool, sauna and tennis court are not open to dogs. For walks, the farm lanes around nearby Spindlestone are quiet and level, and Bamburgh's beach is about 5 miles to the east.
