Newport, Isle of Wight
A mews-style cottage for four in a converted Victorian dairy barn on a horse riding farm near Newport, with a private enclosed garden, a dog exercise area and two dogs welcome.
Giddyup is a beautiful mews-style house in a converted Victorian dairy barn, set on a wonderful horse riding farm within acres of countryside, and out at the front there is an exercise area on site where dogs can burn off their energy. This dog friendly period cottage takes four guests and a couple of dogs, and it lies 2 miles from the centre of the island.
The farm is set down from the road, which makes the rural escape complete. A striking archway opens into a quaint courtyard, and inside the cottage a reception hall leads to the lounge and diner, where plenty of comfy seats face the Smart TV and the dogs drift off during the film. The well equipped kitchen enjoys views across the garden, and there is a WC by the entrance.
Two zip and link bedrooms are upstairs, a king-size that overlooks the garden with its own en suite bathroom, and a twin, convertible into a king on request, whose en suite has a shower. Head back downstairs and out the back to the private, enclosed garden, with outdoor dining furniture and a BBQ, and it is the dogs' own corner of the farm. Solar water heating is among the cottage's eco credentials.
Stroll over to visit the pigs and sheep, spend an afternoon in the saddle with the farm's riding professionals, or eat at the on-site restaurant with the children's play park in view. Monkey Haven and Butterfly World are both under 0.5 miles off, and the island's walking and cycling trails, with sweeping views of coast and countryside, are made for days out with the dogs.

Is Giddyup dog friendly?
Yes, Giddyup welcomes up to two dogs. The cottage has its own private enclosed garden at the back, and the farm has a dedicated dog exercise area set apart from the cottages — a thoughtful provision that many holiday lets simply don't offer.
Are dogs allowed at Giddyup year round?
The listing doesn't specify seasonal restrictions, so it's worth contacting the owners directly to confirm availability for your dates. What we can say is that the setup — private garden, exercise area and working farm surroundings — is one that's been designed with dogs genuinely in mind.
What should I know before visiting Giddyup with my dog?
The fenced garden at the back of the cottage is yours alone and is where your dogs can be off lead — the front communal garden and the exercise area beyond it are not enclosed, so leads are required there. The surrounding farm land is grazing, so it's worth keeping that in mind on walks through the yard and along the narrow country lanes off the property.
