Grey Seal Barn

Southrepps, Norfolk

Three dogs and six people at Southrepps in Norfolk, in a barn with an enclosed garden off the French doors, a shower room to the master and a cloakroom at ground level.

The master bedroom has a door that opens onto a rail and a drop, a Juliette balcony with nothing past it, and that is the one door here no dog is going through. Grey Seal Barn has three bedrooms and three dogs at Southrepps, dog friendly, six sleeping in a barn in the north of Norfolk, with a shower room off that master and enclosed ground behind.

Downstairs is a single room. The range double oven and its worktops run into the dining table, the table into the sofas, and the French doors at the end open onto the garden, so three dogs live in one space with one way out and have it worked out before the bags are in. A cloakroom sits by the hall.

That garden is closed all the way round, furniture and a barbecue standing on it, and three dogs get every foot of it. Upstairs the second king and the twin share the family bathroom, the twin zipping together into a super king if somebody asks at booking. The ground floor takes the week and the rooms above are only for sleeping in, which suits an animal that would rather not be left on a landing.

Gunton keeps a station within a short run of the village, a small one on the coast line, which changes what a week here can be made of. Weaver's Way passes five miles off, a long distance path that crosses this part of the county from the water to the sea. Three dogs get field edge from the gate and a named path when a longer day is wanted.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Grey Seal Barn dog friendly?

Yes, Grey Seal Barn welcomes up to three dogs. The barn has an enclosed garden accessed through French doors, so your dogs have a secure outdoor space to use without any fuss, and field edge paths are accessible straight from the gate when a longer walk is on the cards.

  • Are dogs allowed at Grey Seal Barn year round?

The listing doesn't specify seasonal restrictions on dogs, but nothing in the details suggests dogs are limited to certain times of year. It's always worth confirming directly with the owner when you book to be sure.

  • What should I know before visiting Grey Seal Barn with my dog?

The one thing to be aware of is the master bedroom, which has a Juliette balcony door that opens onto a drop — this door is off limits to dogs, so it's good to know going in. On the plus side, the ground floor is essentially one open living space with the garden right off the French doors, which means your dogs will have the layout figured out before the bags are unpacked. The garden is fully enclosed all the way round, so up to three dogs have free run of it.
