East Runton Beach

East Runton Beach is a wide, sandy beach west of Cromer, popular with local dog walkers and a quieter alternative to the busy resort beach at Cromer itself. The beach is backed by low cliffs and has good connections to the Norfolk Coast Path, which runs along the clifftops and links to West Runton, Sheringham and beyond. The beach is particularly known for the beach ramp access and for the fossils found in the local cliffs, which are of geological interest. East Runton is a small village with a relaxed character, and the beach is rarely as busy as Cromer despite its proximity.
Dogs are welcome at East Runton year-round outside the seasonal North Norfolk PSPO restriction period. From 1 May to 30 September, some restrictions apply in the section adjacent to the access ramp and beach frontage, but dog friendly stretches of beach remain accessible either side. Outside the restricted season this is a genuinely dog friendly beach with open sand, easy access via the beach ramp, and excellent clifftop walks connecting east toward Cromer and west toward West Runton. Parking is available off Beach Road with a short walk to the beach.
